Don't think that could help - the variable is only updated after 'SET TEXTMERGE TO'. Best bet seems to be to do this occassionally and then immediately set it back on as ADDIT.

To be honest it's not a problem I'm likely to have in a real application - just spotted it as a weird occurrence....
