Thanks for the detail, David.

I suppose there are valid technical reasons for that border, but I must admit being really bugged at seeing (in stores) a HDTV screen playing a DVD and still having a border. Seems to me that "wide aspect" was made for HDTV/DVD and losing screen real estate on that border just seems wrong when the TV costs so much more. When that gets 'fixed' I'll be more inclined to consider such a TV.
