Ni Nadya,

I'm currently at the other side of the desk. I don't own a salon, but a great part of my business (stationery) involves intensive customer service.

If one of my employees did something wrong, I WANT to know. After hearing what the customer says, I'd ask the employee and then decide if I should make ammends somehow with the customer or if it's just a lunatic (we had a guy recently threaten to sue us over $10).

If it's something simple, and the customer's statements are balanced, I'll probably give a refund and make her happy. Whatever you do, no matter how mad you are, don't yell at anyone.

It could have been that the girl misunderstood you or it could have been that she's just stupid.

The problem is that you asked for a b and c and instead you got d e and f. Explain this and state that you would like to receive a full refund including the tip, which is supposed to be voluntary, not "asked for" (that's also something the owner should be aware of as it causes a terrible impression of the salon alltogether). And in this case, this is a particularly sensitive issue as you were coerced to give a tip even though you were extremely dissatisfied.

To find out who the owner is, have someone who speaks perfect English (I gather that you have an accent) pose as a telemarketer and call and inquire as to who makes the phone service decisions or some such question that will give you the right name.

Now I'm curious, what color IS your hair? From your UT picture it seems black, but you message doesn't convey that.

Like Michel said, tell THEM how you feel and be sure to tell them what you want. If you want to make it easier, ask for a gift certificate for a future service (OF ANY KIND).

Why a gift cert? From an owner's perspective it makes the most sense: it means I don't have to take money out of my pocket and it means that you will come back, which is always good for business.

Whatever you do, do it sooner rather than later.

Good luck!

Alex

>Hi everybody,

>Here is the situation I'd like to ask your opinion:

>On Thursday I had an important interview at 2pm. So, at 10am I went to a Beauty Salon, which is located near my home. Since I am new to Columbus, I don't know much about such things and therefore just choose this one by its location. I asked to make a coloring in my natural color and a nice hairstyle.

>Well, here is what she had done. She colored my hear in the color much darker than my natural color, she cut them extensively, though I asked don't cut and she put a lot of laquer on my hair, which I dislike (in another Beauty Salon in Boston the hairdresser (very professional) used foam and I thought, that's the usual american practice). So, essentially she did everything not as I asked. Finally she told me to pay $45. I did and for a moment forgot about tips, which she reminded me... So, I gave $5 as a tip.

>Now, I don't like, what I currently have. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. What should I do? Should I let it go or can I do anything about it?

>Thanks a lot in advance for your advices.
