I am sorry Jim I think you've completely missed my point.

I am not here to have a dig at VFP at all. I am merely stating the fact that the next version of SQL has a new datatype which will replace the need for text columns. If VFP were to get that, then we could also remove the need for memo files (in part). Memo fields have always been a source of problems, the reason that many developers never see them is because you wouldn't develop on a highly unreliable network with connections coming and going constantly. End users do have those issues and more, so that is why they see more errors.

I consider that an apology would be in order.
