I have a simple class library that I would like to compile. AFAIK the only way to do this is thru the command-line compiler.
What genius came up with this? From the samples I have seen, the
most common command line parameters all contain information that
should already be present in the class library itself, and/or the "solution" (there's an oxymoron): the class name, the namespaces it uses, the fact that you are compiling a class library, etc. A simple dialog box to provide the DLL name would be all that is required.
Never mind the fact that the compile parameters have changed somewhat (making most of the examples online obsolete), this
REALLY strikes me as a waste of clock cycles for the already stressed-out developer community. How hard could it be to make it a menu choice in the IDE? Or a button on a toolbar? Stick it in my FACE, man, I don't want to have to remember some arcane command-line syntax!!!!!!
Better yet, I don't WANT to compile it, I just want to
TEST IT. Hello, there's a concept. The class isn't finished, I have some ideas I want to try, and I expect to have the thing BLOW UP if something doesn't work. Where's the benefit of having half-baked DLL's littering up my machine?
ARRGH!!! This is PROGRESS???
