There's a limit of 2GB on each of VFP files (DBF, CDX, FPT). The growing size of the table itself may or may not be the reason for slowdown. More important is how your application accesses tables and how well such access is optimized.

>9 to 12 months the app started slowing down. 4 months ago the speed really went down. All hard drives are below 50% used and are 5 gig or larger. All files open but there is one file which is very large:
