Chris,
Crystal is much better at doing things like page breaks, grouping, and totals than straight HTML. It works with the printer driver to control pagination. If you wanted to get the same functionality from your browser, it would require a lot of hand-coded javascript to talk to the printer driver.
I have just begun to re-create some HTML reports myself. I can be a little quirky, but once you get your arms wrapped around it, it should be the same as using any other .NET class.
>I didn't know whether or not to put this in the ASP.NET category or the Crystal Reports category. I have never worked with Crystal Reports, but I have written and an ASP.NET app for a client. Some of the pages display DataGrids. He would like to be able to print that data with some formatting (30 rows per page, a break after each 10 pages, column summaries, etc.). Is Crystal Reports the right tool for this job?
