>Well, ASC("C") returns 67 and ASC("T") returns 84. I must admit I have no idea why I was thinking that way. Between "C" and "T" is just as good. There are times when using the ascii numbers is more convenient.

Thank you. So this will check for the occrrences of any letters that are between C and T - then flag a .T. if it is true and an .F. if its outside of the specified range?
