I imagine that it is just taking the XMLDOM a
long time to construct that large a document in memory. You say it's 50k rows how many columns are there?
Have you watched on the task manager to monitor CPU and memory use? I would imagine that the CPU pegs at 100% and memory use steadily increases. XML is not a linear process either. Have you tried a 1, 2, 4, 8 and finally 16mb document to see how well it works?
