I've been researching c0000005 errors since last November when we upgraded a client site from VFP 6 to VFP7 SP1 (same code, recompiled). c0000005's appeared almost immediately. They occur randomly - in clusters on some days and not at all on others. The errors have disappeared completely for weeks at a time. They occur anywhere from start up to exit - any menu selection, on any form, in any process. It _isn't printer drivers, video drivers, NIC cards, cabling - none of this has changed, and we've worked with the client in various test scenarios.

We have applications at other sites where we have never seen a c0000005 . . . until last week.

A VFP7 SP1 application (also converted from VFP6)that has been humming along without problem for close to a year has just reported the 3rd instance of c0000005, starting last week. The client site is large corporate and has just upgraded virus and security software. There are 8 modules in place and the errors have been reported in 3 so far, but the call stacks are of no use in pinpointng a cause . . just like the client described above.

This has always been a stable network environment - no problems for over 10 years working with this client. Once again, the hardware and physical connections have not changed. It is not NIC cards, video drivers or printer drivers here either. Garbage collection is in place.

These errors occur when there is no garbage to collect, no reports being printed, on menu hits that call no data . . NOTHING to point to a fox fixable cause.

Initially I thought the first client's problem was the upgrade to VFP7 SP1, but other applications went through this and remained stable - with the exception of this second client. Something else is going on here.

Is this sounding familiar to anyone? I note active c0000005 discussions in the VFP 8 info. Any ideas? Suggestions? Any hope?

Also - can anyone explain why the MS VFP home page shows bug lists for VFP 6 , doesn't mention 7 but promotes 8???? Did they forget to update the page?? Forgot about 7 ??? Anyone from MS out there???
