Fabian;

I do not know the reality of the subject but do have an opinion based upon comments from the administration.

1. The Administration took a short-term approach of cost of the war with Iraq and little or no consideration for a long-term prospect.

2. Administration sources were giving numbers ranging from a few months to ten years of occupancy of Iraq.

3. One report issued before the war began gave a map, which defined the pace and time line of events. One event was that Iraq would write its own democratic constitution within two months of the end of the war.

Where are the flowers on the street that were to be placed there by the Iraqi people, for the conquering heros? We saved Iraqi's from SH and want to bring democracy to its people.

I wonder how I would feel if in 1945 Nazi Germany conquered the United States to liberate us from FDR, and bring us its form of democracy?

Considering it took the United States about 175 years to create a constitution and another 225 to refine it (which we still do from time to time), two months for Iraq to accomplish such a task seems like an ambitious undertaking. We have been working on our constitution for almost 400 years - from the time the first settlers landed on our shores until now.

Personally, I do not think the administration had a clue as to what to expect from Iraq. They have opened Pandora’s box and we have not seen the end of the subject. No amount of cowboy dialogue, threats, or media misinformation can hide reality.

Our leaders are telling us that things are improving in Iraq, and everything is going according to plan. Tell that to the parents of those American and other Allied soldiers who are being killed in Iraq, as well as the Iraqi people.

>I wasn’t. Just got overdose of South Park :)

>>The “Gulf War”, cost $4 billion total, to the United States.
>>
>>Now that the second war with Iraqi has concluded”, the cost to stay in Iraqi is $4 Billion a month. The cost of the war? Some say $74 Billion. The cost to rebuild Iraqi? Use a blank check book – please! One number is $200 billion.

>IMHO all these “expenses” (using the first word that came up to my mind) were meticulously calculated after doing anything which means that the subsequent benefits will be much, very much more than that.
>
>>We might consider moving to Iraqi, as the United States is rebuilding the power generators and transmission lines at the expense to United States tax payers. Also, all Iraqi women who are expecting will receive prenatal care, and 50% of all Iraqi’s will receive free medical care. All expenses will be paid for by United States taxpayers. Add to this the many people in Iraqi who are being paid to not work.
>>
>>We have people in our nation who want to work but cannot find jobs. Many people in the United States no longer have unemployment insurance benifits as they have run out due to being unemployed more than six months.

>Yep, I’m willing to move there… to sell Zoom Copters for living ;)
>Seriously, I also agree with the rest of your message.
