Has anayone installed OpenOffice.org version 1.1.0?
Just got Tamar Granor's new book "OOoSwitch: 501 Things you wanted to know about Switching to OpenOffice.org from Microsoft Office."
Am a vfp7 programmer & am interested in possibly replacing MicroSoft Office with OpenOffice.org at some client sites.
The book is very interesting and helpful. It walks you thru the installation and shows many differences & similiarities in the way spreadsheets, word processors, etc work.
Congratulations to Tamar for writing this book! This message needs to be gotten out to the programming & user communities.
I noticed while installing OOo (ver. 1.1.0) that they ask you to select the Java environment to be used by OOo.
I looked up "Java" in the Index of the book and it said "Java Setup page, 14". When I went to page 14 there wasn't any info on Java.
I couldn't find anything in the OOo Help files, either.
What are they looking for? Hopefully just an executable.
I've got Borland's Java Developement on another pc but it's a several years old, and I don't work with Java any more.
Maybe I can download something from the internet.
The install zip file is: OOo_1.1rc3_Win32Intel_Install.zip and I got it from the http://www.OpenOffice.org web site..
The os is Win XP Pro.
All help appreciated.
