>mmmm... ZoneAlarm is the laughing stock of all hackers...

I'd be interested in why you say that. I've seen that statement a couple of times (both times with no explanation), but whenever I go out to the net and look up firewall comparisons, ZoneAlarm always compares well. ZoneAlarm Pro does even better. Just for example, check out

I'm not an expert in this area, but from everything I've read, ZoneAlarm looks like a good product. I did read one dissertation outlining a problem with non-standard IP packets, but Tiny suffered exactly the same issues according to the writer (who's name I'm afraid I can't remember).

Anyway, I've been using ZoneAlarm for a while without a single problem, but if there are problems with it that I'm not aware of, I'd sure like to know.

>>What firewall software are other folks using on development laptops these days? I need something that will work with AVG anti-virus from Grisoft and a local installation of SQL Server. I've used Zone Alarm successfully for a couple of years even though it's not supposed to run with SQL Server but changes in the product over the last month or so have made it impossible for the two to coexist any longer.
