I seem to remember being tols when I ran into this that a record object created with SCATTER NAME isn't a "Real" object as far as VFP was concerned. There are a bunch of things you can't do with a SCATTER NAME object. Some people have created alternate methods of creating "real" record objects from an empty class. Then you can do things like add properties, methods, etc.
