Hello Christopher,
In the context that you describe you will probably not be able see any performance enhancement from installing either Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Professional. Your enhancement will probably be from a faster drive on the new machine. The dual processesor will not add any enhancement until you actually run a program that will take advantage of the dual processesors, but still the dual processors will NOT enhance the access of the FoxPro database. You have to remember that just having your FoxPro database and tables on another machine, no matter what operating system it's running, does not mean that you are running "true" client/server.
However, if you install Windows 2000 Server you may acheive other things that will probably help your network and in turn will help enhance your applications performance. First, you will have a better file server. Second, you will have the ability to setup a Domain which will allow you to manage security more efficiently (I assume you are running as a work group now). Third, if you force all your other machines to not build a browse list and let only the Windows 2000 server machine do this job, I guarantee that you will see your network performing faster, which is probably your problem now??
