Thanks Gregory. We had checked the file associations and they matched but we removed them all for JPG files and put them back in - no change.

However, last evening they tried to use the query again and for the first time received a VFP error "Invalid file descriptor". As it still worked on other computers, we cleared out the local temp files and lo and behold it works. Why there were no errors issued for a full day I don't know. This will now be the first thing we do when his computer does this again.
