>>>>>>Thanks. I think I had read something about 1000-dollar bills. But if they are not in public circulation, then that means that any cashier should be quite suspicious with those, too.

>>>Not just Navy, My dad was in the Air Force, and was issued his entire paycheck with $2 bills once.

>>I was also in the Air Force during the 1960’s. We always got a check and not cash. One day the newspapers announced the military received the “biggest pay raise in history”. I think it was almost 3%. As an E-3 at the time, the 3 % increased my $77 a month salary to the point I did not know how to spend it! :)

>My dad's told me, back then that $2.31 was dinner and a movie for he and my mom. Now days, it's about $60.

It is interesting to look at the percentage of income spent in the 1960's compared to today, for any activity. The Silicon Valley is not balanced, but that is my home. As an example in the 1960's you could buy a home for about 20% of your income with your wife not working. Today your wife must work and it will cost you about 50% of your combined incomes to buy the same home. The problem is that the 40 year old home you just bought requires major work! :) Also, if you sneeze you loose your home (loose work for a few months).
