Jerry,

I have done organization charts in forms and reports.

There is no simple way. I set up the report using create report, putting in only those controls that will be there no matter what.

Then I hack it. The program makes a copy of the .frx report file, and then calculates, based on the data where each control should go, its properties etc. I have lines, boxes, linetypes, colors, text sizes etc. The user can select the size of output, and the control sizes etc. are scaled appropriately. Then the program makes the necessary modifcations and additions to the copy of the .frx file. When done it REPORT FORM MyNewReport TO PRINT. Works fine, but took about a week to do.

I used Cathy Pountney's The Visual FoxPro Report Writer to understand the .frx file, and without that book I probably could not have done it. If you want large format printing I still have not found away to have report heights > 20 inches.

One downside is that since the report is data driven, each report run has a unique file. I don't know what skulduggery the next version of VFP will bring, but if it uses a different report file format this method may no longer work.

It was not easy, but the final product is impressive.

Hope this helps,
David
