I cant seem to figure this out. I have an asp.net mobile page that I have a textbox and a dropdown list.

When I enter a value into the textbox, I populate the dropdown with a bunch of values.
This works well.

I now would like to select an entry from the dropdown and keep the selected item from refreshing.

I have 2 problems:
(1) I cannot get the value of the selecteditem from the dropdown when I select an item. I think that it has something to do with the OnSelectedIndexChange event... not sure why this event does not even fire...

(2) I have read everywhere that I should not bind the dropdown on postback, but I need to bind the control on postback in some instances and not others.

Any information would help. I am trying my best to learn this, but I still have a lot of questions.
