MSDE/MS-SQL
.NET interop with VFP and VB mtdlls
web services (vfp and/or .NET)
ASP.NET
XML
C# or VB.NET
--this is the Microsoft route. It seems people are either strongly pro-microsoft or anti-microsoft. I myself am in the MS camp and think it's easier to create any type of application with MS tools as opposed to others.
CGI is definitely history - it doesn't scale well and was basically just a hack to get old .EXEs working with web sites. ISAPI will continue to be the fastest web application standard. A custom C++ ISAPI web app will outperform even new C# .NET web apps, but, it would take far longer to develop..
