>>>If you haven't already, check out John Swenson's article (MSDN) on Microsoft's New HTML Help. Pay particular attention to the end of the article where he states that IE3 or IE4 will have to be installed on a user's machine for a MS HTML Help system to function properly.

>Well, under a default install, users of Win95 and NT 4.0 would have a browser installed but in many corporate installations browsers are NOT installed by default. At my current company, less than 20 for the over 300 employees have a browser installed on their PC. In our case, we do this because our internet connection is not strong enough for many more users and management will not allocate funds and time to upgrade our connection. It is not seen as contributing to the bottom line. So forcing companies to have a browser installed will only cause more headaches for companies where internet access is a problem.

All that happens if you don't install the browser is that the icon doesn't appear. The needed DLLS and ActiveX controls still exist on the users PC.
