You should definitely install SP, but the problem with grids is more generic. You were lucky, you were not hit by it before. The simple solution would be to move focus out of the grid and after report form restore it back. Another solution would be to create a private DS for running report. However, this is much harder...
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
