ActiveX controls in VFP
Internet protocols have been pretty stable through the years, and they will be. So don't worry to rely on a third party library to send emails as long as it uses SMTP, ..., because it will work in years to come. Actually I guess you will have less problems with future updates with third party email software than with Outlook.
I have been using VFP emailing since 1997, and the same libraries still work (although recently I have changed to a new one which supports embedded images).
>I need a simple, reliable solution to bring up a new e-mail message (preferably Outlook) which VFP fills in the body, an attachment, subject, and recipient(s). As soon as I add the recipients to the Outlook or MAPI object model, I get the infamous security warning. Technically I do not access any ones address book but I guess when I add the receipient it trys to resolve it to one. I don't even want to have my software send the mail message, but just to display it on the screen, allow the user to make changes and then the user clicks 'send'.
