As someone pointed out, try to find out sessions that directly affect your work. For example, since you write accounting applications (and you work for the goverment) my session on Pivot Tables might be something you could use in your work. I am sure there are other sessions that apply directly to your work.

Having said all that. Even the sessions that don't apply directly to your daily dutties provide a *lot* of value. Meeting other developers is also high on my list.
