Thanks Cathy
I have been to several DevCons (1998-2000) but its been impossible to get to any conferences the last 3 years, budget cuts is the excuse. but then I find that boss got certified as MCSE in both NT and 2000, big bucks. and another person is getting their webmaster cert. So I guess that is why I feel the need to be specific about writing a justification. It seems they have money if they want it!

I would like to take your session on "Hidden Secrets". I feel that's the heart of VFP. There are a lot of trick ways to do stuff if someone just shows us.

Hopefully I will see you there.

>>I am not really going at writing justification letters. My boss needs to justify to our Florida State agency how it will benefit our Administrative section. We write accounting/personnel applications. Would anyone have an idea where I could get an idea or have something they could share.

>I can tell you that when I first started going to conferences I started kicking myself for not going sooner. What you get out of a conference is invaluable. You get exposure to all sorts of ideas, examples, concepts, new stuff, etc.
>
>Some sessions are very indepth and you learn tons of stuff. Other sessions are more conceptual and you walk away knowing something about the topic and knowing that it's something worth investigating further .. or it's not important to you and your application so you don't need to bother investigating further.
>
>Besides the sessions, the conference offers plenty of opportunity for socializing with other developers. Many times you learn just as much in an informal discussion than you do in sessions. FoxPro developers are eager to help and share their ideas and solutions to problems.
>
>I always joked that coming home from a conference I felt smarter .. and dumber!! I felt smarter because I had learned so much. I felt dumber because I realized there was soooo much more to learn!!
