I don't believe this list is really representing any tendence about actual language popularity/workability.
If this is based on Google searches, it can be related to the amount of public information versus propietary one, bad-accounted hits (I guess they discount any hits on java coffe, but you understand what I mean).
I think checking around the local newspaper, hotjobs, etc, will definitively be a better approach. Also, take in consideration your own background. If you where a VFP developer for many years, you should be very familiar with Windows and its sorrounding technology.
If you start investigating Perl or Python, for instance, you have to start learning a lot of other things as well. Maybe the job market makes this time investment worth enough, or maybe not.
