Yes, is working. In my office I use this approach to launch on server - to run fast - maintenance task and long calculation at salary apps, from office and home through dial-up.
From terminal client you have options to reroute ports and drives. (Options>> Local resources)
If client session is interrupted they continue to run on server waiting for client to reconnect and show all desktop like nothing happen. Terminal server transmit over wire only images of screen, audio and ports data, keystrokes and mouse move; all apps is running on server not on client ¡V this means doesn¡¦t matter how big is data of apps.

Now about network connections:
1. Internet connection at central and remote office
-at central office set a server with a proxy, firewall and vpn connection (use ISA server or Linux ¡V by budget or easy of use ƒº)
-at remote office use win2000 for first computer which connect to central office through vpn and have second net card to connect to other computers on remote office and act like router (set in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\IPEnableRouter to 1)
-other computers at remote office can be any operating system
-this type of connections will cost higher at higher rates or if you tell ISP to deny internet access at remote office (which gain internet through central office) obtain low cost
-vpn provided by windows is secure and use compressed data

2. VPN connections provided by ISP (as we work with Connex with ~30 locations)
-same central office without vpn server
-at central office and remote office ISP is providing standalone router to interconnect networks and don¡¦t need vpn ¡V all computers are one single network
-cheaper connections but no compressed data; security is assured by vpn channel of ISP

>Have you seen somethink like this working? I mean, in a remote office will be, maybe, 3 computers and only one connection. Invoices must be printed at a local printer . Can be client terminal sessions routed through proxy? What if client session is interrupted?

>I think that the application will perform very well if only a small amnunt of data will be transmitted over the wire (and this data will be compressed too).
