That shouldn't make any difference from the TS POV. You still share the printer and the TS Server sees it as a remote resource, I believe.

I do have users in this exact position. (running FPW apps over dialup on TS no less!!! argggh)

I'm not the network expert, though; I'm the Fox expert <s>. I'm saying it does work and I'm just suggesting that this is how the TS setup has to be configured.
