>Thanks Bernard. I will keep that in mind. I actually had a chance to get to the client site today and the code worked. I just didn't have any hardware with me that I could test with besides that mouse. I was hoping the mouse was the problem.

What we used to do was just carry around a COMM cable. This was connected to COM1 at one end and at COM2 the other. Then we ran 2 sessions of Hyperterm, one listening on COM2 and the other talking out of COM1.

Also I had custom written routines in a VFP app to talk/listen to COM ports and also used this for any testing, without the need of additional hardware.

For instance, on a project I worked on, I had to COMMunicate with a Spectrometer that was used to test the concentration of sugar in Grape juice (for wine). I just setup an app which would output the correct strings to mimic the meter as well as accept the strings sent to it, connected the COMM cable and off we were testing my app without any hardware.

Hope this helps.
