You're actually seeing another aspect of the same thing:

At that point, just as in my example, the popup is the equivalent of the _CUROBJ|current GET|control-with-focus <s>.

Do you see why this makes a difference?

BTW, is there is anything in particular you're trying to accomplish here, that's not working? Or is this research? Maybe we can help...
