Sounds like you've gotten some "helper" software installed. Looks to be the same problem as most spyware, except it's making it's presence known to you. There should be some kind of tool or setting to turn this behavior off, or you'll need to remove the tool, either by uninstalling it, or by a spyware remover like AdAware or SpyBot.
