I'll agree that the issue is computing as a whole. MS is certainly not the only one involved, they just happen to have an OS on 85% of all PCs out there.
Oracle I think is headed by Scott McNealy and he certainly does not envision MS in the lead of computing, he thinks Oracle will be. He envisions the thin client using your TV to connect to the internet where all information for the masses will be available. Of course, that means paying for info beyond the basic stuff.
As any business entity would, MS is trying to protect what it has. It'll be interesting in the years ahead to see how things work out. I think that anyone has a chance to be a player in the future.....it's just going to take insight into the direction.
