You can try to open PowerPoint Show in IE instance launched from VFP. This way timer shouldn't interfere.

Now I have another little problem - in this web browser control I open a .PPS (PowerPoint Show) which plays fine until a timer event elsewhere on the form fires, then the PPS stops and does not resume. Originally this timer event FTPed a file from a remote server, but I have simplified it to just do a "wait window 'hello' timeout 2" and the PPS still stops.
