My brother Bill, has a great dislike for telemarketers. While visiting him the phone rang:
1 . Local newspaper: “Would you like our newspaper free for 30 days”?
2. Bill: “No! I don’t have a dog”! Then he quickly hung up.
So far that fellow has not called back and that was two years ago.
>You are either much more patient or much more evil than I am Craig. :o) My immediate response as soon as the first sentence comes out of their mouth is: Put me on your do not call list. Then I hang up.
>
>>Reminds me of what I do with telemarketers.
>>
>>Caller: "Can I interest you in ...."
>>Craig: "No, I'm not interested"
>>Caller: "What if it saved you money?"
>>Craig: "Let me speak to your supervisor"
>>Supervisor: "Can I help you?"
>>Craig: "Does Caller speak English?"
>>Supervisor: "Yes"
>>Craig: "Then what part of I'm not interested does he not understand?"
>>
>>Another thing I've used:
>>Caller: "Can I interest you in...."
>>Craig: "I don't know. What are you wearing right now"
>>
>>If they are trying to switch your long distance, it's sometimes fun to take the call all the way through to Third Party Verification (required by the FCC), then decline it.
>>
>>Sometimes I've kept the caller on the line for a long time before I turn them down. Screws up their call times. Short call times are very imporant.
>>
>>But then, my telemarketing calls have gone to zero since I had my home phone disconnected. I only use cell now.
>>
>>
>>>I had a large sign on the front door of our house - No-Solicitation! A few minutes after placing the sign on the door, the doorbell rang.
>>>
>>>Salesman: “Would you like to buy”…
>>>Tom: Can you read?
>>>Salesman: “Yes”
>>>Tom: “No-Solicitation”!
>>>Salesman: “I’m not soliciting – I’m selling”!
>>>Tom: Archie Bunker shut door in face routine #1
>>>
>>>Conclusion: Nothing works as planned! :)
