3 things I noticed:
1. In VFP 7 EXE program it gives "There is Not Enough Memory to complete this operation."
2. In VFP 8 IDE it brings up an error reporting dialog instead of the C00005 error.
3. In VFP 8 EXE Program it just closes without error (but it doesn't work).
Are these the same for you aswell?
