I finally "fixed" it.

I basically started rebuilding the form from scratch and copying code from my old form to the methods on the new.

During that process, I took out a comment line in my old form's (the one that wasn't working) refresh() method. After doing that, my old form seemed to begin working.

I'm thinking that it had somehow gotten into a wierd state in which the refresh() code wasn't compiled or that the form didn't realize it had code, etc.

Anyhow, everything is working now!
