Hello, Walter.

>>>If you suggest reading another book, why did you write your article in the first place ???
>

Excuse me for jumping in, but I can't understand why you are so angry as to justify what each message is sounding more like a personal attack (you used terms such as 'misleading people' and 'silly').

I will try to see your claims from a different angle:

1) Why does people believe in Craig's statements as so important? Why is he considered a 'Guru' (in your own words)?

Maybe because he has proven to be a wise person, is always willing to explain his criteria, and many people has learned from the knowledege he shares in the forums, in his web-site, and his writing troughout the years.

2) Why can't an article be a whole book?

Obviously, people can't read a whole book for every single thing they need. In many cases, an article is the starting point for something you want to research deeper later, or just something you can 'blindly' follow as advise, because you trust the author and you don't have the time or will to study the topic by yourself.

Good articles tend to have a bibliography where appropriate, or at least point at some leads to further research. This is what Craig did in this case.

3) Why is a book written ten years ago so important for people still buying it and mentioning it in several articles and seminars around the world?

I would just take a look at it. I think that you'll find that everything in the book is quite reasoned and justified, as an author can do in a book, and not in an article.

4) If you read the thread again, you'll see the original poster wanted some coding standard to use as a base to make his own. What Craig did is what he's recognized for. Instead of 'keeping' some of his trade secrets, he just posted some of his internal information for anyone to see. He posted it as an article, but it is clearly stated that this is an internal document.

Walter, please forgive me if I can't understand you. I would understand you discussing with Craig some of his advises, but instead, your blaming at him for *sharing* something.

Best regards,
