I think that they won't do anything about it. Because in a lot of places they state "If you want data integrity, buy SQL Server" (not exactly those words, of course). And for shared acces to a Word or Excel document, is enough.
A server component to do I/O stuff would be great, but, again, we will never see this.
So I've choosed a database server, but a "poor man database server"( I mean a free one), not SQL Server. All these problems just dissapeared where I've ported the app.
