To me, the cursor adapter is a remote view killer. It is like a cursor object with SPT automagically built in to it. If you have developed a good CursorAdapter base class, with just the changing of a couple of properties, you can switch backends seemlessly.
I developed my CA VCX Builder to create such a class. As long as my table structures are identical in a SQL Server and Oracle database, I really only have to change my connection, and everything still works. Same applies switching from DBF/DBC to SQL Server, Oracle or any other SQL backend.
If I change a table structure, I no longer have broken view issues. I just modify the CA for that table and move on.
