Hi Craig,
>For the record, I'm writing a program now where I'm using macros extensively in one place.
I'm glad to hear that you've identified the application of macro's. I'w waiting to see that reflecting in your article.
On a note. I'm sorry I was getting too hard on you. Therefore my appologies. I guess I'm too persistent in what I see as getting easy statements without a solid foundation out of articles like you've written.
I really appriciate your effort to teach the VFP community, but I wish it was a bit more 'solid' from time to time with a bit more scientifical approach (proving statements, or at least references to facts, discussions etc. (maybe with hyperlinks?)).
You and others are respected 'gurus' on the forum here. A lot of people do listen to your advice. I hate to see you as guru make statements that are not complete, incorrect or irrelevant as it might mislead or confuse the reader. I'll take the freedom to continue to critisize such statements when I come accross one. You might have a other motivation to be here, but this is mine with the limited time I can spend here.
Walter,
>>Well, craig said "avoid macros", which IMO is the equivalent to "when ever you can write it differently skip macros". As I explained why, this is not a wise decision as macros are invaluable in the VFP world. I certainly would agree that Macros are used to much in cases where they should not. Therefor the developer has to know when to use them and when not. It takes experience to find out...
