This is definitely not expected behavior. I have not been able to duplicate the problem, so it may be peculiar to your code.
An inelegant but workable solution may be to use MCOL() and MROW() to determine if the mouse is over the drop down area of the combobox, the MOUSE() to move it somewhere else.
