Before you get too tough on Rush why don't you tune into another show on Fox Sports called "The best D*** Sports Show Period" and see if they do not step over the bounds of what Rush stated several times a show. What is the difference in the two shows? I think I know the answer and that is because folks like to target Rush because of his stance on many other issues. No one seems to care what Tom Arnold or the rest of the D*** Sports Show state at all. Even if it hurts minorities/women/etc...

>>I read his quote and he did what he was paid to do and that is to state an opinion. But I do not think he meant anything racial at all. What I get out of the statment is that there are groups that root for a person on the basis of more than their abilities on the field. Is that wrong, not necessarily. Unless those groups totally ignore the reason he/she is on the field in the first place and never report their performance in an honest manner. Thus giving others the impression that he/she is a great athlete and they do nothing wrong.

>I'd guess that Mr. Limbaugh says something similar many times daily on his radio show.
>I was surprised at the backlash, specifically considering that what he said was said on a cable channel (or is ESPN not 'cable' in the U.S.?) because they generally seem to have much more latitude that the "networks". The consequences of his words on a 'network' channel would have been immediate and obvious.

>Now, as to my personal opionion, I don't think that just because someone "does what he's paid to do", that it all should be OK.
>I wasn't aware that Mr. Limbaugh was either a sports 'expert' or a media 'expert'. But I have noted that yer typical right-wing blabbermouth seems to feel that s/he is expert at whatever comes up. While their typical audience seems to accept that, the question is bound to come up when a wider audience is involved.
>Finally, the story I hear is that it was primarily Mr. Limbaugh's colleagues on the TV show that have encountered trouble and so have expressed concern to their superiors, possibly even indicating that only Mr. Limbaugh's departure could make thing good again quickly.
