>One more addendum: usually, it's appropriate to edit memo outside the grid, just because memo field takes too much space. This case you can put into appropriate column 'Edit memo' button which will invoke another form/dialog with editbox to edit memo field.

Thanks for the advice. I was just looking for an 'elegant' way to allow the users to edit the contents of an edit box. I'll give it a try.
