>>Reachout works great over a WAN. Simple to setup. This service/messaging is basically what people call client server. I can explain that concept to the best of my feable understanding if you like. Can you define your application a little better?

In both cases I have one large database that the client wants to access from several different offices (eg Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto & New York). In both systems I need the ability to create records that will be visible at all locations. In the cheque production system I need to be able to create a cheque at one location to be printed at another location. I am working on a foreign exchange system now that I am going to have the same problem in. In the foreign exchange system the client wants to see the current inventory at any location accross the country.

I would look at 2 solutions.
(1) REACHOUT would be my choice for quick easy implimentation. You can use the existing system as is and can be implimented in a short time. Data intergrity would be very good because you are not sending data over the lines (only keystrokes and mouse movements and any screen changes). Printing could cause you some problems. Setup at the remote sites is quick and straight forward because you are just installing a canned package, this is no small matter when you consider keeping source code in sync.
(2) You could consider using a web server. I have no idea how you do this type of work, but I know it can be done. This would be a big investment in time and money but would be a long term solution in the direction of the industry. All of the training centers teach web development. As a note this would be an internal web site called a INTRANET site, only the people on your network could access, rather than a INTERNET site located on the WWW that anyone could access.

You could look at this as a 2 phase project. Using REACHOUT in the short term to get you up and running. And to keep you running while the new development is done on the web server. Definately you will never be satisfied with a file server solution (like FoxPro) and probably not a client server solution using Foxpro or any other package like Access or Visual Basic or PowerBuilder.

Hope this helps
Robert
