I can't really speak for VMP, but we *have* done a lot to optimize speed in our Codebook for Mere Mortals framework.
But back to the subject at hand...although VFP is exceedingly fast at database access, it can be a bit sluggish when it comes to instantiating user interface controls. We have enhanced our framework to allow delayed instatiation of business objects (and associated UI controls) so that developers can add these dynamically at runtime when a user clicks on the page on which they reside.
At any rate, you may want to try a test form with fewer UI controls so you can determine where the slowdown is occurring. In addition, you can also use VFP's coverage tracking to locate problem areas.
