I am not sure whether it is a good comparison. This seems to me like asking, "Which is better, Word or Excel?"

I mean, VFP is for the front-end, Interbase for the back-end (the database server). Although VFP has its own database engine, most VFP developers will recognize that, for certain purposes (large systems, safety features, and others) it is better to use VFP as the front-end (if you like VFP), but work against a database server like Interbase.
