John;

I have programmed in 13 languages so far, as a means of earning a living. Let me compare learning and using VFP 3.0 with Visual Studio .NET.

I felt at home with VFP 3.0 Beta (January 1995) and it took only a few minutes to begin using it and make it do what I wanted. After training from local sources, Flash Creative Management (Codebook), MEI, VFE, and Drew Speedie (VMP), as well as developing my own framework, I would say that it took me less than one year to be productive.

Using Visual Studio .NET seems more complex as there is much more to learn. Microsoft has a series of 8 books at Borders bookstore on the .NET framework. It takes up a good part of a 3 foot wide shelf.

I have had several great training sessions on .NET. I hope to feel comfortable in another year and think that a product like MM.NET will bring up my productivity even sooner.

>Just a simple question. I'll assume that most of the readers and users of this forum are foxpro programmers. So the question is are you more productive, less productive or the same when compared to the foxpro environment when programming in the C# or VB#?
