>>Reachout works great over a WAN. Simple to setup. This service/messaging is basically what people call client server. I can explain that concept to the best of my feable understanding if you like. Can you define your application a little better?

In both cases I have one large database that the client wants to access from several different offices (eg Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto & New York). In both systems I need the ability to create records that will be visible at all locations. In the cheque production system I need to be able to create a cheque at one location to be printed at another location. I am working on a foreign exchange system now that I am going to have the same problem in. In the foreign exchange system the client wants to see the current inventory at any location accross the country.

Hi Shane,

To add to what Robert gave you:

RE #1. Reachout sound a lot like Citrix Winframe. All applications and data reside on one server and outside office access via TCP/IP or direct dialup or network. Only mouse clicks, keyboard and screen refreshes are sent. If your WAN is NT, NT5 will have this technology built in.

RE #2. There is an article in March 1998 issue of FoxPro Advisor called "Use the Internet as Your VFP Network" by Rick Strahl. Neat concept, but like Robert said, longer to setup.
