I'm currently working on a network that is undergoing some 'improvements', which means that the occaisional packet gets dropped. (long story)
In more than one instance, FoxPro apps have returned the error 'error reading file'. What can I do to get around this? I have some ideas about putting code in the error handler to re-open the table(s) in question but I'm wondering if there's a better way, particularly if I have a temporary index open on a shared table that my be being edited somewhere else.
The larger question is, as a developer, should I make it my responsibility to develop applications so robust that they will function on a badly maintained network?
