Was the bicyclists riding 'off the road?' And what about the rule that all bicyclists must obey the 'rules of the road?'


I'm not sure, Jim mentioned the occurance. I agree that in general the courtesy of "rules of the road" should be followed by cyclists. Most casual riders either don't, or don't know any better... But then again, neither do many drivers...

Either way, there is a difference between courtesy "rules of the road" and what the law says. The issue that Jim mentioned was someone getting a ticket for passing a school bus on a bike, which by the letter of NYS law, is legal. I'm sure that any number of lawyers can argue the case either way :)
